15-year-old girl assaulted by stray dogs in Ludhiana
A 15-year-old was attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Krishna Nagar near Ghumar Mandi on Thursday morning.
Two bystanders saved the teenager, Neha, but she was unable to escape multiple bites to her arms, chest and back. The girl also received seven stitches in her head after falling into the road in the vicious attack.
His parents, who are migrant workers, have filed a complaint with the police against a doctor in the area, who feeds stray dogs, alleging that this resulted in an increase in their numbers.
According to reports, Neha, her parents’ only daughter, was on her way to a relative’s house with her mother around 6 a.m. when the dogs attacked her without provocation. Two passing commuters rescued her and helped her reach the hospital.
Her mother, Roshni, said: “She was walking some distance away from me when the dogs suddenly appeared and attacked her. They also tried to bite me as I jumped to save my daughter. Fortunately, two residents came to our aid and rescued us from the dogs.
Father Vinod Kumar, who works in a garment factory, said he was sleeping at home when his wife alerted him by phone. “I was shocked to see multiple injuries on my daughter’s body. We took her urgently to a nearby hospital, where the doctors sent her back in the evening, ”he added.
Seeking to take tough police action on the doctor for bringing stray dogs to the area, the father also requested that the civic body move the animals to prevent another similar incident.
Meanwhile, MC’s senior veterinarian Dr Harbans Dhalla said he had not received any information about the incident.
The deputy inspector in charge of the Ghumar Mandi police station, Jaswinder Singh, said: “The family members have filed a complaint against the doctor. We are investigating the matter before filing an FIR.
