260 beds, ICC improvised by the 112 brigade officially inaugurated

A former clothing factory building, belonging to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus depot in Badulla, has been improvised as an intermediate care center (CCI) for people infected with COVID-19 by the military and entrusted to health authorities yesterday.

Commander of the security forces – Central Major General Ranjan Lamahewage officially handed over this 260-bed ICC, in addition to the ICC improvised by the army in Bindunuwewa (200 beds) and Kahagolla (190 beds), already operational in the UVA province .

On the instructions of the 11th Division Commander General and the 112th Brigade Commander, the 112th Brigade troops expanded their skilled strength and technical support for improvisations to meet the essential needs of medical personnel and operational mechanisms. the ICC.

Uva Provincial Council, Provincial Political Leaders, Badulla Municipal Council Authorities, District Secretary and District Secretariat Staff, as well as Regional Director and SLTB Bus Depot staff generously supported at the last ICC which has just opened in the premises of the depot. The new ICC includes accommodation, medical care, hygiene and television facilities for patients.

This conversion process was carried out with the cooperation of the GOC 11th Division Major General Kithsiri Liyanage and the 112th Brigade Commander Brigadier Anura Disanayake. Uva Provincial Council Chief Secretary PB Wijerathne, Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) Dr Hemantha De Silva, and Public Health Specialist Dr Nimal Gamagedara were present at the inauguration official.
