4 dead, 20 injured as train hits bus carrying RMG workers in Gazipur

At least four people were killed and 20 others injured when a train hit a bus carrying garment workers on a level crossing at Sreepur in Gazipur on Sunday morning.
One of the deceased has been identified as Priya, an RMG employee.
“The Balaka Express train bound for Netrakona from Dhaka collided with the bus carrying RMG workers at the Maijhpara crossing at around 7:05 a.m. as it passed the crossing. The bus is believed to be owned by Zaman Fashion Limited of Sreepur,” Sreepur station master Harun-ur-Rashid told The Business Standard.
“A worker named Priya was killed instantly. Two bodies were recovered from the front of the engine of the train. These two are thought to have been sitting in front of the train.
“Their bodies (those who sat in front of the train) were kept at Gafargao station in Mymensingh. Another victim died on his way to the local hospital. A total of six of the injured are currently being treated at the Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital,” Gazipur Railway Police Chief Md Shahidullah said.
Gazipur (DC) Deputy Commissioner Anisur Rahman visited the scene of the incident.
He said, “A probe corps will be formed to investigate the accident.”
