A man lynched in Gazipur

A 27-year-old man was lynched in Rajendrapur in Gazipur district in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased, Rakib, son of Alamgir Hossain of Joydebpur upazila, was wanted in four cases of theft, police said.
Officer in Charge of Joydebpur Police Station Mahtab Uddin said garment worker Hashi Akter, 19, along with colleague Ilias Hossain were heading to Rajendrapur Haldoba area to visit the house of one of their colleagues In the evening.
When they arrived near Rakkhitpara, a group of disbelievers intercepted them and took Hashi to Rakkhitpara forest after beating Ilias mercilessly.
Later they tied Hashi to a tree and tried to get a ransom.
At one point, Ilias informed the local people and asked for help.
Local people then besieged the forest and grabbed Rakib around 12:30 p.m. Saturday while the others managed to flee the scene.
They also gave him a good beating, leaving him injured.
They also gouged out Rakib’s eyes and broke both of his legs.
Upon information, the police rescued Hashi and Rakib and took him to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College and Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Hashi filed a complaint with Joydebpur police station overnight.
