“After a long student movement, the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges first announced half-fare for students traveling on state-owned BRTC buses across the country, then the Bus Owners Association announced that it will provide half-fare to students in Dhaka metropolis from December 1, but it has yet to be fully implemented, ”he said.
“In addition, students are not allowed on many buses and even misbehave if they want to pay half-fare,” he said.
“As a result, many students are being pushed off the buses,” he said, adding that there was a possibility of a big movement if an untoward incident happened.
“The leaders of the transport sector are responsible for this mismanagement on the road. For positive change in this sector, a change in the current leadership of the transport owner-worker leadership is essential, ”said Mozammel.
“These leaders are taking advantage of the government in various ways by holding people hostage in the name of the transport strike,” he added.
To this end, the organization presented the government with a 20-point recommendation.
