Truckers can now access a 30-second health check focusing on the dangers of hypertension and type 2 diabetes using a new smartphone app from Health in Transportation and NuraLogix.

The patent-pending CDL Health Scanner app allows drivers to scan key vital signs using an iPhone or Android device. It is a driver-centric system that leverages Anura technology to measure blood pressure using transdermal optical imaging delivered via a smartphone camera.

When combined with user body mass index data, the risk factors for hypertension, type 2 diabetes and even obstructive sleep apnea, the scourge of highway truckers, are clearly highlighted, NuraLogix officials said in a press release.

“Nearly 80% of… disqualifications [that result from a Department of Transportation physical] are caused by strong [blood pressure]dangerous blood sugar levels and OSA, and this app not only warns drivers that they are in dangerous territory, but also connects them to specialized health coaches who can guide lifestyle changes that will transform their situation from health, officials said.

While the CDL Health Scanner app only uses a portion of the monitoring capability that NuraLogix is equipped to provide, putting Anura in the hands of hundreds of thousands of professional drivers will generate a wealth of data that can only improve. the Anura platform.
