Garment worker gang raped in Chittagong
Rape survivor lodged a complaint against the perpetrators on the night of the incident
Four men allegedly gang-raped a 21-year-old garment worker on her way to her colleague’s home in Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong on Monday.
Police drove into the area and arrested one of the defendants on Monday evening, Bhujpur (OC) police station officer Ashab Uddin said.
The person arrested is Arif Hossain, 25, from the Dantmara union of Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong.
The other three accused are Nur Mia Alias Manu Mia, 25, Md Zakir Hossain, 35, and Zakir Hossain Alias Mahibul, 22.
According to the case statement, the girl visited a colleague’s home in the Henyako neighborhood of Fatikchhari upazila on September 10. A romantic relationship had developed between the arrested person and the survivor.

On Monday, Arif asked the woman to come meet him. He then took the woman to a rubber garden where he allegedly raped her along with three other people.
Following this, the rape victim filed a complaint against four men with the Bhujpur Police Station.
She was sent for medical examination after the report was filed, the police station said.
Efforts are being made to arrest the rest of the defendants, he added.
