GCI Consultants Congratulate Shauna Serafini on Earning Prestigious Fenestration Certification and Waterproofing Designation
West Palm Beach, Florida, USA – 11/17/2022 (PR Distribution™) –
The long-time GCI leader expands her knowledge with a highly sought-after fenestration certification and earns the title of Registered Weatherproofing Consultant.
West Palm Beach, Florida – November 17, 2022 – Shauna Serafini, Principal Consultant at GCI Consultants, has earned a FenestrationMaster® Professional Certification and Registered Weatherproofing Consultant (RWC®) designation.
The FenestrationMaster certification is the result of Serafini meeting the requirements of the program developed by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and currently administered by the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA), which provides professionals with the latest information on standards and industry practices and validates their knowledge through certification.
“FGIA’s FenestrationMaster training and certification program is ideal for experienced professionals who meet the eligibility criteria for registration and who are motivated to prove their understanding of the fenestration industry. Course candidates gain in-depth knowledge of a variety of topics related to fenestration product performance and testing,” says Janice Yglesias, AGIVA’s Managing Director.
The Registered Enclosure Consultant designation was administered by the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC), after Serafini met the requirements of a two-part program based on an application process and passing an exam hard. Serafini now joins an elite group of over 90 registered waterproofing consultants in the United States and Canada.
Since joining GCI Consultants in 2009, Serafini has worked on hundreds of projects throughout Florida, including new construction consulting and forensic investigations of existing buildings. It provides expertise in construction management services, quality assurance inspections, design document reviews, forensic investigations and expert testimony support while mentoring its associate consultants. His main areas of practice include building fencing, glazing systems, waterproofing systems, water leak investigations and wind damage investigations.
“These certifications were important to me as I routinely deal with glazing and weatherproofing systems from all avenues, including new construction, medical-legal claims, and construction defects,” says Serafini. “It’s another way for clients to recognize my knowledge and expertise so that I can help them solve and prevent future building envelope issues.”
The FenestrationMasters program offers certifications and training that cover the entire fenestration industry, including performance standards, products and materials, test methods, and code requirements.
To become a registered waterproofing consultant, candidates must possess verifiable levels of work experience and education, high ethical standards, and a satisfactory score on the RWC and General Consultant Knowledge (GCK) exams.
