Obaidul claims the roads better now than ever
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Tuesday that the condition of the country’s roads and highways was now better than ever before.
In a press conference at the ministry, he urged transport owners and workers not to charge additional fees to home passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Obaidul, also the general secretary of the Awami League, warned that if owners and transport workers charged extra fees to home passengers, action would be taken against them.
He said, “As Eid-ul-Fitr is approaching, all necessary preparations have been made to ensure a smooth flow of people as directed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The condition of the country’s roads and highways is better than at any time in the past, the road transport minister said.
The necessary instructions have already been given to remain vigilant on the ground so that homebound passengers do not suffer any suffering on the roads during Eid, the minister added.
He called for the cooperation of all relevant stakeholders, including transport owners and workers, to ensure safety and discipline on the roads and highways.
Noting that formed task forces involving members of different law enforcement agencies will be deployed to bus terminals around the city, Quader said the mobile courts will be making trips to the terminals to secure fare fares. normal buses.
He called on highway police, district police, district governments, Bangladesh Ansar, local government and other relevant people to play a responsible role in ensuring the smooth flow of vehicles at exit points. and entrances to towns and at intersections prone to traffic jams.
The Minister called on the leaders of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association and the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association to announce the Eid holiday for their factory workers in stages in order to avoid additional passenger pressure on the roads before Eid-ul-Fitr.
