Uzbekistan and Pakistan recently agreed to conclude a preferential trade agreement (PTA) within three months to increase bilateral trade. At the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee (IGC) for Uzbek-Pakistani Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation (IGC) in Tashkent, the two sides agreed to form joint working groups in several areas to strengthen cooperation. did.

The meeting was co-chaired by Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov and trade adviser to Pakistani Prime Minister Abdul Razak Huawood.

According to Pakistani media, the two countries have agreed that the trans-Afghanistan corridor connecting the two countries will play an important role in strengthening bilateral trade between the two countries.

The two parties agreed to deepen their partnership in the field of industrial cooperation, in particular by forming joint ventures in the fields of the textile industry, assembly of agricultural machinery, processing and packaging of fruits and vegetables. .

Solutions for deepening cooperation in the fields of energy and minerals, agriculture, transport and communications, labor, education, tourism, science and technology, technology parks, housing and municipal services, interurban cooperation, standards, meteorology, culture and youth issues.

In April this year, Prime Minister Imran Khan and President of Uzbekistan Mirjiyoev held a virtual summit to discuss the joint promotion of the transcontinental railway construction project, increase in commercial turnover and the strengthening of cooperation between large companies.
