Jakarta (ANTARA) – Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said his ministry is working to develop a skilled workforce for the manufacturing sector given the high demand for skilled workers in the textile industry and textile products.

The availability of skilled workers is expected to boost national economic growth, he said in a statement on Saturday.

“The high demand for skilled workers in the textile and textile products industry has encouraged the ministry to cooperate with the Solo City Administration, the Indonesian Textile Association of Central Java (API) and the Solo Technopark to establish the Academy of Textiles and Textile Products. Community (AK-Tekstil) Solo, “he explained.

AK-Tekstil Solo was created at the end of 2015 and inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in January 2016.

The academy offers three degrees in yarn production techniques, clothing production techniques and clothing production techniques.

“AK-Tekstil is equipped with facilities such as laboratory, workshop and teaching factory. It also has professional certification institution and competence test,” Kartasasmita added.

The academy offers vocational education with a dual system concept that integrates learning on campus and in industry, he said.

“Therefore, there will be an effective synergy in education to produce a competitive workforce that is ready to work in industry,” the minister explained.

At least 300 students graduate from AK-Tekstil Solo each year and all of them have been employed by the country’s major textile factories, such as PT Pan Brothers, PT Mataram Tunggal Garmen and PT Sritex, Tbk, he added. . (INE)
